Celebrating Black Athletes
These athletes exemplify greatness, perseverance, and the rich legacy of Black excellence in sports.
- Ben Johnson – Once termed ‘the World’s Fastest Human” and rival of Jesse Owens. National Sprint Champion -Track & Field. His mother Ellen Washington is the great-aunt of Denzel Washington per Wikipedia.
- Maurice Peoples – Track & Field NCAA Champion and Olympian.
- George Raveling – Villanova/Naismith Hall of Fame. Bodyguard to Martin Luther King for the “I Have a Dream Speech” at the National Mall in Washington D.C.
- Charlie Wysocki – Maryland Football Standout.
- James Mungro – Syracuse University and Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl Champion.
- Julian Campenni – UConn – All Big East Selection. Current Rutgers Coach.
- Brea Seabrook – St. Francis University Field Hockey Multiple Honor Athlete.
- Raghib ‘the Rocket” Ismail – Heisman Trophy Runner-up. Notre Dame All-American Professional Football.
- Qadry “the Missile” Ismail – First two sport All-American since Jim Brown. Super Bowl 35 Champion with the Baltimore Ravens.
