For the past 60 years, The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame has honored and inducted over 780 incredible men and women who have made a lasting impact in Pennsylvania through extraordinary athletic achievement and contributions. Whether these activities have been achieved on or off the field, we honor them. Through our future virtual museum, we educate and celebrate their achievements for years to come.
The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame’s 2025 Induction Ceremony and Dinner is Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Sheraton Hotel-Pittsburgh Station Square.

Ed was a four-year standout in Basketball; four- year starter, team captain his junior and senior seasons, and Varsity Athlete of the Year his senior year. PIAA and CBOA basketball official 1964 – 1978. NAIA Championships 1975-1976, Olympic Trials and Games in Los Angeles In 1984 and Seoul, Korea in 1988.

Peter was an all-around sportsman; player, coach and official. Four year Letterman in high school and three-year Letterman at Kutztown State College. He coached his 1957 Cass Township to an undefeated. Untied, unscored on in their 15- game season. During his coaching career Peter coached 2 All-State ends,1 All-State basketball player.
Coached Championship teams in Football, Basketball and Baseball. PIAA Official; 24 years-basketball and 42-years football. A Participant in Senior Olympics; he won 25 medaals at State and 25 at the County level.

Ernie played on the University of Pennsylvania 1953 Ivy League Champions. Named Ivy League MVP and was an All-American in 1952-53. He holds Penn Records for career points. rebounds, points in one season, points in one game (47 Duke).
At West Catholic High School he took the league scoring title in 1948 and 49. He was All-Catholic 1948 and 49, All-City 1949, And All-State 1949. Played on the Philadelphia Warriors NBA Championship teams in 1955 and 1956.
Albert D. "Al or Jack" Bemiller

Had a very good NFL nine year career with the Buffalo Bills, 1962 – 1969 As a center; !965 League All-Star, 1964-65 All-League, AFL Champions And 1961 Rookie of the Year. Named to the Bills Silver Anniversary Team.
Jack was a football player and wrestler at Syracuse University in 1957-61. In football Syracuse played in the Orange and Cotton Bowls and he was named All-East, a third team All-American and played in the Blue-Grey Game. At Hanover High School he won two Wrestling District Championship, and I Regional third. He was National Prep Heavyweight Wrestling Champion and a National Football Player of the Year.
Nelson K. "Nellie" Briles

Began his Major League career in 1963; pitching for 14-seasons with the St. Louis. Pittsburgh, Kansa City, Texas, and Baltimore.
He compiled a career record of 129-112; 1 NLCS and 4 World Series games (2-1). He had a two hit shutout against Baltimore in 1971. Retired to the broadcast booth with the Pirates, Seattle Buffalo, as well as, National Radio with the USA Network and ESPN.
Harold E . "Red" Grange

Born in Forksville, PA. After his mother’s death when Red was 6, the family moved to Wheaton, IL . After a great high school career, he entered the University of Illinois. Recognized as one of the greatest all - time collegiate and professional (Chicago Bears) halfbacks. First player selected to both the collegiate and professional Halls of Fame.
Credited with the developing popularity of professional football.
Sports Illustrated All-time All-American.
Edward P. "Ed" Marion

Ed refereed high school college and professional football for 42 years. He was a National Football League Head Linesman for 28 years, Working the 1971, 1975, And 1977 Super Bowls. Umpired baseball and officiated basketball for 10 years.
He also refereed boxing for the PA State Athletic Commission for 18 years, Ed was one of the founding officers and served as Executive Director of the Professional Football Referees Association for 25 years.
In 2002 he was awarded the NFL Referees Associations highest honor.

Winningest basketball coach in Pennsylvania with 640 wins, All-time 23, 2nd in PA history. Currently (1994) athletic director basketball and baseball coach. Has coached track, girl’s basketball, vollyball. And soccer in a forty- year cosching career. As manager of teener baseball winning 15 District 12 titles.
Served on PIAA Executive Committees, State record; 1960-82 Straight wins. A graduate of Forest City High School and Lock Haven University of PA.
Judith C. Saurer

Judith Saurer began her coaching career at the University of Pennsylvania in 1962 and moved to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1966. At Edinboro she compiled a record of 177 wins and 67 losses with 5 appearances in the EAIAW Regional Playoffs. From 1981 -1985 she coached the University of Pittsburgh Lady Panthers to a 85-57 record Including a Big East Championship in 1983-84 and Coach of the Year honors. She coached at Gannon University 1985-88 with a 88 – 46 record. Judith was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1963.

Frank was an All-American at Lenoir-Rhyne College. Begn coaching football at Cherryville, North Carolina. Returned to Pennsylvania and became a coaching legend in Central Pennsylvania with a 238-131-17 record.
Coached at four schools and won championships at each one. Undefeated four consecutive years. Coach of the Year 18 times. An Inductee of the Lenoir – Rhyne College, Capital Area and West Shore Chapters of the PA Sports Halls of Fame and the PA Football Coaches Hall of Fame,
Willard "Willie" Somerset

Willie was a two-time 1st Team All-State performer in 1959-60 at Farrell High School on a two-time State Championship Team. St Duquesne University he was an All-American in 1965. In 1966 he played for the Baltimore Bullets in the NBA, in 1968-69 the ABA’s Houston Mavericks And New York Nets.
In 1971, Willie moved to the Eastern Basketball Associations Championship team and garnered Most Valuable Player honors and on All- Star Team. Inducted into the Duquesne University Hall of Fame in 1976, Western Chapter PA Sports Hall of Fame in 1983 and Recipient of the prestegist Pittsburgh Dapper Dan Club Award in 1983.
