For the past 60 years, The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame has honored and inducted over 780 incredible men and women who have made a lasting impact in Pennsylvania through extraordinary athletic achievement and contributions. Whether these activities have been achieved on or off the field, we honor them. Through our future virtual museum, we educate and celebrate their achievements for years to come.

The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame’s 2025 Induction Ceremony and Dinner is Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel.

"Jack" lived to play football. "Was in his blood!" achieved celebrity status at all levels of competition at Pottstown High School lettered 3 years in football and baseball .. .in addition to All League Honors, was presented the coveted Maxwell Club Award as Player-of-the-Year ... recruited by Salem
College, continued to amass almost incredible statistics ... ranked 1st nationally in rushing, 3rd in scoring, 4th in punt returns and 1st in kick-off returns .. .in 1975 and 1976, selected to the NAIA All American Team .. .Sportswriters Association named him West Virginia's Amateur Athlete of the year ('76) ... drafted by the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers where he earned a super Bowl XIII Championship Ring ... after a short stint with George Kalas' Chicago Bears, he returned to the Steelers ... a serious injury forced "Jack" to terminate a colorful career.

Back in 1928, "Pete" was recognized as Pennsylvania's finest high school athlete ... while at Picture Rocks High School, pitched on the town's baseball team and won a medal at the Penn Relays ... after receiving an athletic scholarship to Bucknell University, earned letters in football, basketball, baseball and track. .. an outstanding punter, passed for one touchdown, ran for another, then kicked the winning extra point in a major upset beating Fordham's famed "Seven Blocks of Granite" in the final game of Bucknell's first undefeated season ... played professional football for the Staten Island Stapes (NY) before starting a career in education ... at Salem High School (NJ) "Pete" coached football, basketball and track.

Jack's" outstanding scholastic and collegiate playing careers dubbed him "One of Philadelphia's greatest all-around high school and collegiate athletes" ... at Roman Catholic High School (1912-16), won 16 let-
ters and captained the football, basketball, baseball and track teams ... moving on to Catholic University duplicated those accomplishments ... atWest Catholic High School (PA) coached the track and field teams to 10 league titles and 5 National Catholic Championships ... from 1940-49 coached track at the University of Pennsylvania .. .for 27 years Professor of Physical Education and Director of Intramural Sports Programs ... 1939-58 collegiate football official. .. 1939-65 national and international track official. . .instrumental in founding the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the Maxwell Football Club.

"Chuck" Klausing is a name synonymous with winning football games ... an all state scholastic lineman and one of football's most successful coaches a 48 year record of 310 wins, 112 losses, 10 ties from 1954-59 his Braddock High School team was undefeated in 64 consecutive games ... 10 undefeated seasons at Indiana University (PA) 47 wins, 10 losses ... Carnegie Mellon 75-15-2 6 Conference Championships .. .4 NCAA Division III Playoffs ... won the coveted Lambert Trophy as the best small college team in the East (1979) ... named ABC's College Coach-of-the-Year in 1979 and 1983 ... Conference Coach-of-the-Year an unprecedented 6 times ... coached Swiss, Austrian, and Italian National Teams ... directs annual summer football camps attended by 1,000 athletes ... very active in benefits for EC.A. and various Scholarship Funds (Tim Kerin, Moe Smith, Jimmy Starr).

"Maje" has been an active member of the Phillies National League Baseball Organization for 6 decades ... 10 years as a coach "firing up" Eddie Sawyer's Whiz Kids rooting for Robbie and Curt in the 1950 World Series currently doing community relations work for the ball club ... played high school baseball and basketball at Northeast ... was the playmaker on Villanova University basketball powerhouses ... captained both high school and college teams ... helped to co-pitch a Villonova no-hitter coached Villanova basketball freshmen to a two-year record of 116 wins-21 losses guided Chestnut Hill Academy to 2 baseball championships ... a Phillies Dream Week Instructor ... holds the unique distinction of being a coach both in a World Series and a NCAA Basketball Tournament. .. WWII Veteran, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, 5 Battle Stars.

"Skip", in the mid-40's, was one of the premier running backs in the nation ... a double-threat All American tailback and passer for George Munger's powerful University of Pennsylvania single-wing offense and an All American halfback at the U.S. Naval Academy ... both teams were nationally ranked ... played professional football in the NFL as a safety for the NY Giants ... following retirement as a player became noted college football official working major games including Army-Navy, Sugar Bowl, and Hall of Fame Bowl among others ... past president of Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials ... Trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Univer- sity of Pennsylvania Health Systems ... very active in assuming major responsibility positions in community government .. .inducted into College Football Hall of Fame.

William "Speedy" Morris

347-82 record ... championship teams at Penn Charter ... as LaSalle University's women's coach, the best winning percentage (71.70/0) in the program's history .. .in 9 seasons as LaSalle's men's coach, compiled 164 wins playing in 4 NCAA and
2 NIT tournaments, again winningest ever ... 1989 team, 30-2, ranked 12th in Division I National Ratings, .. because of his intense community involvement and human goodness, "Speedy" has become a source of immense community pride!

On three levels, "Fett" has earned the reputation of being one of Philadelphia's all-time finest as an athlete, coach and administrator ... she starred at Swarthmore High School under coach Virginia Allen ... then at Temple University, guided by coach Ann Volp, became a 10-time U.S. First Team Lacrosse All-American and a 3-time U.S. First Team Hockey All American with International Competition and Honors in both sports ... coached basketball and lacrosse at Drexel 10 years ... coached lacrosse at Beaver College 3 years ... returned to Drexel (1965) as Director of Athletics/Physical Education for Women and coached lacrosse and badminton until the late 1970's a National official in both basketball and lacrosse ... sectional official in hockey retired (1991) rank of Full Professor along with husband, John, Director of Athletics/Physical Education for Men at Drexel.

John is one of Pennsylvania's most honored schoolboy basketball coaches ... to those whose careers and lives he personally touched, he was known simply as "The Coach" ... a fiery perfectionist and brilliant defensive tactician whether playing basketball (All Schofield Army Base twice; Penn State 1939-42) or coaching basketball (Kutztown High 1947-65, 1986-87; Delaware Valley College 1966-75; Wilson High 1976-79), with a career record 527 wins - 117 losses (.818 winning
percentage) including 16 Division, 13 County, 8 District III and 3 Pennsylvania Class B State Titles ... developed 28 Berks All Stars, 8 All State and 1 "Parade" All American players ... a player stated at the time of his coach's death, "He took you from being a kid to being a man:' ... "When you were out there on the court, he was teaching you life. He told you life was never going to be easy, but if you stuck to it and worked hard, you could succeed:'

An Inductee of the Elizabethtown College Sports Hall of Fame. Ed was a four-year standout in Basketball; four- year starter, team captain his junior and senior seasons, and Varsity Athlete of the Year his senior year. PIAA and CBOA basketball official 1964 – 1978. NAIA Championships 1975-1976, Olympic Trials and Games in Los Angeles In 1984 and Seoul, Korea in 1988.

Peter J Droskinis

Peter was an all-around sportsman; player, coach and official. Four year Letterman in high school and three-year Letterman at Kutztown State College. He coached his 1957 Cass Township to an undefeated. Untied, unscored on in their 15- game season. During his coaching career Peter coached 2 All-State ends,1 All-State basketball player.

Coached Championship teams in Football, Basketball and Baseball. PIAA Official; 24 years-basketball and 42-years football. A Participant in Senior Olympics; he won 25 medaals at State and 25 at the County level.

Ernie played on the University of Pennsylvania 1953 Ivy League Champions. Named Ivy League MVP and was an All-American in 1952-53. He holds Penn Records for career points. rebounds, points in one season, points in one game (47 Duke).

At West Catholic High School he took the league scoring title in 1948 and 49. He was All-Catholic 1948 and 49, All-City 1949, And All-State 1949. Played on the Philadelphia Warriors NBA Championship teams in 1955 and 1956.

Albert D. "Al or Jack" Bemiller

Had a very good NFL nine year career with the Buffalo Bills, 1962 – 1969 As a center; !965 League All-Star, 1964-65 All-League, AFL Champions And 1961 Rookie of the Year. Named to the Bills Silver Anniversary Team.

Jack was a football player and wrestler at Syracuse University in 1957-61. In football Syracuse played in the Orange and Cotton Bowls and he was named All-East, a third team All-American and played in the Blue-Grey Game. At Hanover High School he won two Wrestling District Championship, and I Regional third. He was National Prep Heavyweight Wrestling Champion and a National Football Player of the Year.

Nelson K. "Nellie" Briles

Began his Major League career in 1963; pitching for 14-seasons with the St. Louis. Pittsburgh, Kansa City, Texas, and Baltimore.

He compiled a career record of 129-112; 1 NLCS and 4 World Series games (2-1). He had a two hit shutout against Baltimore in 1971. Retired to the broadcast booth with the Pirates, Seattle Buffalo, as well as, National Radio with the USA Network and ESPN.

Harold E . "Red" Grange

Born in Forksville, PA. After his mother’s death when Red was 6, the family moved to Wheaton, IL . After a great high school career, he entered the University of Illinois. Recognized as one of the greatest all - time collegiate and professional (Chicago Bears) halfbacks. First player selected to both the collegiate and professional Halls of Fame.

Credited with the developing popularity of professional football.
Sports Illustrated All-time All-American.

Edward P. "Ed" Marion

Ed refereed high school college and professional football for 42 years. He was a National Football League Head Linesman for 28 years, Working the 1971, 1975, And 1977 Super Bowls. Umpired baseball and officiated basketball for 10 years.

He also refereed boxing for the PA State Athletic Commission for 18 years, Ed was one of the founding officers and served as Executive Director of the Professional Football Referees Association for 25 years.
In 2002 he was awarded the NFL Referees Associations highest honor.

Winningest basketball coach in Pennsylvania with 640 wins, All-time 23, 2nd in PA history. Currently (1994) athletic director basketball and baseball coach. Has coached track, girl’s basketball, vollyball. And soccer in a forty- year cosching career. As manager of teener baseball winning 15 District 12 titles.

Served on PIAA Executive Committees, State record; 1960-82 Straight wins. A graduate of Forest City High School and Lock Haven University of PA.

Judith C. Saurer

Judith Saurer began her coaching career at the University of Pennsylvania in 1962 and moved to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1966. At Edinboro she compiled a record of 177 wins and 67 losses with 5 appearances in the EAIAW Regional Playoffs. From 1981 -1985 she coached the University of Pittsburgh Lady Panthers to a 85-57 record Including a Big East Championship in 1983-84 and Coach of the Year honors. She coached at Gannon University 1985-88 with a 88 – 46 record. Judith was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1963.

Frank L. Snyder Sr

Frank was an All-American at Lenoir-Rhyne College. Begn coaching football at Cherryville, North Carolina. Returned to Pennsylvania and became a coaching legend in Central Pennsylvania with a 238-131-17 record.

Coached at four schools and won championships at each one. Undefeated four consecutive years. Coach of the Year 18 times. An Inductee of the Lenoir – Rhyne College, Capital Area and West Shore Chapters of the PA Sports Halls of Fame and the PA Football Coaches Hall of Fame,

Willard "Willie" Somerset

Willie was a two-time 1st Team All-State performer in 1959-60 at Farrell High School on a two-time State Championship Team. St Duquesne University he was an All-American in 1965. In 1966 he played for the Baltimore Bullets in the NBA, in 1968-69 the ABA’s Houston Mavericks And New York Nets.

In 1971, Willie moved to the Eastern Basketball Associations Championship team and garnered Most Valuable Player honors and on All- Star Team. Inducted into the Duquesne University Hall of Fame in 1976, Western Chapter PA Sports Hall of Fame in 1983 and Recipient of the prestegist Pittsburgh Dapper Dan Club Award in 1983.

James was a World Champion. Turku, Finland 1991; set meet and American records in 1,500M (14:31), 800M (2:12) age 60. World Indoor records (1,500M (4:28) age 55 – 1,500M (4:43) age 60, Member of World record setting outdoor distance medlay team1991; Indoor/outdoor American age group records: 4:38 mile, age 53. Only American to run mile under 5 minutes age 60 (4:58). Athletic Congress/USA Athlete 1987 age 55; 1990 age 59. 1991 age 60. 5-time Mid-Athletic Masters Athlete of the Year 1984.86,88,91,92. Member of #1 Mercerburg 400 Yard relay team in nation 1950, Syracuse National Cross- Country Team 1952.

Jackson G Horner

Jackson Homer is to high school cross country coaching what John Wooden was to college basketball coaching. Named the National Scholastic Cross Country Coach of the Year in 1989. Coach Homer holds the record for most consecutive undefeated seasons. From 1965 through 1985, Homer's teams at State College High School, captured 189 consecutive dual meets. His 34 years as head coach of track at State College High, Coach Homer's teams went undefeated in 27 seasons. Overall, his record as a track coach stands at 201 wins and only 9 loses. Coach Homer also produced 6 district titles, 12 individual state champions, and he was named Pennsylvania's Scholastic Coach of the Year in 1985 and '87. Coach Homer's career record of 476 wins in cross country and track and field will stand for years to come.

Dr David M Joyner

Throughout his athletic career, Dave Joyner, was Mr. All-America. A star in high school in football, wrestling, and track, Dave made All-State in football and was the state wrestling champion. As a tackle and offensive captain on Penn State's most productive offensive team of all time, he was named All-America by United Press International, The Football News, Gridiron, Walter Camp, American Football Coaches, and the Football Writers. He was also All-America in wrestling at Penn State. A veteran of three bowl games, Dave was voted to the All-Time Nittany Lion Football Team. Dr. Joyner is now an orthopedic surgeon who resides in Hummelstown, P A. He served as U.S. team physician at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games.

Jack Losch

In his four years at the University of Miami, Jack was a two-way starter in football, the starting catcher for three years on Miami's baseball team, and a three-event star in tack and field. All this followed a standout career at Williamsport High School where Jack quarterbacked the team to the 1951 Central Pennsylvania Championship. He was also the leading hitter on the first Little League World Championship Team. After college, Jack was drafted in the first round by the Green Bay Packers. He excelled as a running back and defensive back, finishing as the NFL leader in kick-off returns during his rookie season.
